Mrs. Prabha & Mr. Ramchandra G. Gokhale |
Mr. & Mrs. Gokhale dedicated their lives to teaching. During the period of Indian freedom struggle, they responded to Mahatma Gandhi's call and gave up their British government better paying jobs to teach at A. E. S. boys and girls high schools that were not supported by any British government grant. Dedicated teachers, they taught with a strong commitment to excellence while deeply caring for their students in a very special way. Their careers spanned over 3 decades, a couple of generations of students and are responsible for early education of many doctors, engineers, other professionals and politicians of today. At the same time, on their measly salary, they brought up their own three children preparing them for lives of substantial achievements.
This scholarship honors their lives and work and is provided by their children and family, Ms. Mary Ellen and Dr. Anand Gokhale, Dr. (Ms.) Neela and Dr.Ashok Kale and Ms. Swati and Mr. Ulhas Gokhale.
