Brainard family opened their doors to many foreign students coming to US for their graduate work. Earl and Elizabeth Brainard got graduate degrees from University of Southern California and entered their professional careers. But they always helped students. Anand was one such lucky student. They brought him from the airport and gave him home. Carol and Brian, their children, gave him a little sister and a brother. This gave him comforts of home and enabled him to concentrate on the studies. They helped him prepare both psychologically and professionally for a long and successful career in US.

This scholarship honors all their help and support to the students and is offered with deepest gratitude by Dr. Anand Gokhale and family.
